Falls High

Our Mission

We, the staff of Falls High School, operate under the belief that for quality education to occur, there must be balanced cooperation between the school, parent, student, and community. Without any one of these components in active participation, quality education will be sacrificed.

A Letter from Our Principal

Welcome to Falls High School, the home of the Broncos!

Dear Students, Families, and Community,

I am honored to introduce myself as the new principal of Falls High School. After serving the past 13 years as the elementary principal in our district, I am excited to begin this next chapter and reconnect with so many of the students I had the privilege of working with earlier in their educational journeys. It is both rewarding and energizing to see them now as young adults, ready to take on new challenges and opportunities.

As we look ahead, my vision for Falls High School focuses on three key goals: increasing access and opportunities to a wide range of electives, strengthening school pride, and fostering student engagement in all areas of school life. High school is a time for exploration and growth, and I want every student to have the chance to discover their passions, build their skills, and feel proud to be a Bronco.

Falls High School serves grades 7-12 with an enrollment of approximately 500 students, including an Alternative Learning Center as part of our path to graduation. We are proud to offer both academic and co-curricular opportunities in a safe, caring, and inclusive environment. As a PBIS school, we model and celebrate BRONCO POWER every day, reinforcing the values that make our school community strong.

Our students have access to a wide range of academic pathways, whether preparing for the workforce, technical training, or four-year universities. Through partnerships with Bemidji State University, Lake Superior College, and Minnesota North, students can also earn college credit in numerous disciplines, giving them a head start on their post-secondary goals. We continue to expand opportunities for career exploration through connections with local and regional industries.

Among the many offerings that make Falls High School unique are:

  • Family and consumer science labs where students design food and textile projects

  • Woods and metals shops, including carpentry and welding courses

  • Spanish language and cultural studies

  • Ojibwe language courses, cultural studies, tutoring, and Quiz Bowl

  • A vibrant fine arts program, including art, music, choir, band, and marching band

I look forward to working alongside our dedicated staff, supportive families, and incredible students to continue building a culture where every Bronco feels connected, valued, and inspired to succeed. Together, we will make this school year one filled with achievement, excitement, and lasting memories.

Thank you for welcoming me into this new role. I am proud to serve as your high school principal.

With Bronco Pride,

Melissa Tate
